Siphon
Ingredients:
- 25 grams of freshly roasted coffee beans
- 350 ml of filtered water
- Medium grind size
- Heat source (stovetop or butane burner)
Instructions:
- Set up your siphon coffee maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. It typically involves attaching the upper glass chamber to the lower glass chamber and placing a filter in the upper chamber's metal filter holder.
- Add water to the lower chamber and heat it until it reaches a temperature between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit (90-96 degrees Celsius).
- While the water heats up, grind the coffee beans to a medium grind size.
- Once the water reaches the desired temperature, add the ground coffee to the upper chamber and give it a gentle stir to make sure all the coffee is saturated with water.
- Wait for about 30-45 seconds to let the coffee bloom.
- After the blooming period, turn down the heat to medium-low or remove the burner from the heat source to allow the coffee to brew.
- As the water heats up, it will begin to rise from the lower chamber to the upper chamber. Once all the water has risen to the top, give the coffee a gentle stir to ensure it is evenly brewed.
- Let the coffee continue to brew for another 1 minute.
- After the brewing process, remove the heat source and let the coffee maker cool down.
- Once the coffee maker has cooled, the brewed coffee will begin to flow back into the lower chamber.
- When all the coffee has drained from the upper chamber to the lower chamber, remove the upper chamber and serve the coffee.
- Enjoy your freshly brewed siphon coffee!
Note: Siphon coffee can be a bit tricky to get right, so don't be discouraged if your first few attempts don't turn out perfectly. Practice makes perfect!
