Siphon

Ingredients:

  • 25 grams of freshly roasted coffee beans
  • 350 ml of filtered water
  • Medium grind size
  • Heat source (stovetop or butane burner)

    Instructions:

    1. Set up your siphon coffee maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. It typically involves attaching the upper glass chamber to the lower glass chamber and placing a filter in the upper chamber's metal filter holder.
    2. Add water to the lower chamber and heat it until it reaches a temperature between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit (90-96 degrees Celsius).
    3. While the water heats up, grind the coffee beans to a medium grind size.
    4. Once the water reaches the desired temperature, add the ground coffee to the upper chamber and give it a gentle stir to make sure all the coffee is saturated with water.
    5. Wait for about 30-45 seconds to let the coffee bloom.
    6. After the blooming period, turn down the heat to medium-low or remove the burner from the heat source to allow the coffee to brew.
    7. As the water heats up, it will begin to rise from the lower chamber to the upper chamber. Once all the water has risen to the top, give the coffee a gentle stir to ensure it is evenly brewed.
    8. Let the coffee continue to brew for another 1 minute.
    9. After the brewing process, remove the heat source and let the coffee maker cool down.
    10. Once the coffee maker has cooled, the brewed coffee will begin to flow back into the lower chamber.
    11. When all the coffee has drained from the upper chamber to the lower chamber, remove the upper chamber and serve the coffee.
    12. Enjoy your freshly brewed siphon coffee!

Note: Siphon coffee can be a bit tricky to get right, so don't be discouraged if your first few attempts don't turn out perfectly. Practice makes perfect!
